Cómo te llamas?
Soy Rubén Valenzuela y soy el propietario de Clandestine Box, un centro de fitness dedicado al Cross Training y Hybrid, ubicado a las afueras de Valencia, en España.
Cuéntanos sobre tu experiencia en el mundo del entrenamiento.
Soy atleta de Crosstraining desde hace más de 13 años, con formación específica en halterofilia y gimnasia. Además, he competido durante años a nivel élite.
¿Quiénes te acompañan en este proyecto?
Gabriel Granados, quien se encarga de la co-gestión y la contabilidad, y Alejandro Correa, responsable de la estrategia comercial y del marketing. Sin ellos, este proyecto no tendría la misma fuerza.
¿Cuándo decidiste abrir tu propio gimnasio/box?
Era un sueño que teníamos desde hacía tiempo. Sin embargo, por razones personales y del sector, nunca encontrábamos el momento adecuado. Todo cambió cuando dimos con el lugar ideal, el equipo correcto y el personal adecuado. En ese momento supimos que era hora de hacerlo realidad.
¿Qué te motivó a dar este paso?
La pura pasión por el deporte. Siempre soñé con dedicarme en cuerpo y alma al crosstraining, una disciplina que me ha acompañado, ayudado y hecho crecer tanto a nivel personal como deportivo. Siempre quise tener un box que pudiera llamar “mi segundo hogar”.
¿Cómo elegiste la empresa que te apoyaría en esta misión?
Como atleta y competidor, he probado muchísimas marcas de equipamiento. Sabía perfectamente que, para ofrecer unas instalaciones de alto nivel, teníamos que contar con el mejor material posible.
¿Cuáles fueron los principales obstáculos que encontraste?
Las mayores dificultades al principio fueron inmobiliarias: encontrar un espacio con buen acceso, aparcamiento, zona exterior para correr y que fuera accesible para nuestros clientes fue todo un reto. Pero el desafío más grande llegó poco después de la apertura: apenas un mes después de inaugurar, una DANA golpeó con fuerza varias zonas de la provincia de Valencia, y nuestro box quedó completamente inundado. Nos encontramos con todo el espacio cubierto de agua y barro. Limpiarlo fue un trabajo enorme, tanto física como emocionalmente. Finalmente, tuvimos que reconstruir el 80% del box y reinvertir en nuevo material para poder garantizar, una vez más, la calidad que habíamos prometido a nuestros atletas.
¿Cómo te ayudó Xenios a superar estos obstáculos?
Xenios estuvo a nuestro lado desde el principio, apoyándonos en la fase de preventa y, sobre todo, en los momentos más difíciles tras la DANA. Cuando el box quedó gravemente dañado, su intervención fue inmediata: nos brindaron un apoyo fundamental con el envío rápido del nuevo material, lo que nos permitió volver a abrir en el menor tiempo posible. Pero no se detuvieron ahí. También a nivel social, Xenios nos ayudó a sensibilizar a la comunidad de CrossFit y Crosstraining, compartiendo nuestra historia y mostrando el lado más humano de este deporte. En medio de la dificultad, nos sentimos parte de una verdadera familia.
¿Cuál es la misión de Clandestine Box?
Queremos crear un espacio sostenible, donde se forme una verdadera familia. Un lugar donde cualquier persona que quiera cuidar su salud física y mental se sienta bienvenida y parte de algo más grande.
What’s your name?
I’m Rubén Valenzuela, and I’m the owner of Clandestine Box, a fitness center dedicated to Cross Training and Hybrid Training located just outside Valencia, Spain.
Tell us about your experience in the fitness world.
I’ve been a Crosstraining athlete for over 13 years, with specific training in weightlifting and gymnastics. I’ve also competed for years at the elite level.
Who are your partners in this project?
Gabriel Granados, who handles co-management and accounting, and Alejandro Correa, in charge of commercial strategy and marketing. Without them, this project wouldn’t have the same strength.
When did you decide to open your own gym/box?
It had been a dream of ours for a long time. However, due to personal and industry-related reasons, the right time never seemed to come. Everything changed when we found the perfect place, the right team, and the right staff. That’s when we knew it was time to make it happen.
What inspired you to take this step?
Pure passion for the sport. I had always dreamed of dedicating myself fully to Crosstraining—a discipline that has supported, shaped, and helped me grow both personally and athletically. I always wanted to have a box I could truly call “my second home.”
How did you choose the company that would support you in this mission?
As an athlete and competitor, I’ve tried many equipment brands. I knew that to provide high-quality facilities, we had to rely on the best gear available.
What were the biggest obstacles you faced?
The main initial challenge was finding the right location—with good access, parking, an outdoor running area, and proximity to our clients. But the biggest challenge came shortly after opening: just one month in, a severe flood hit several areas of Valencia hard, and our box was completely flooded. We found the entire facility submerged in water and mud. Cleaning everything up was physically and emotionally exhausting. In the end, we had to rebuild 80% of the box and reinvest in new equipment to maintain the quality we had promised our athletes.
How did Xenios help you overcome these challenges?
Xenios stood by us from the very beginning, supporting us during the pre-sale phase and, most importantly, in the hardest moments after the flood. When our box was severely damaged, their response was immediate—they gave us crucial support by quickly shipping new equipment, allowing us to reopen as soon as possible. And they didn’t stop there. Xenios also helped raise awareness on social media, sharing our story and highlighting the human side of this sport within the CrossFit and Crosstraining community. In those tough times, we truly felt like part of a family.
What is the mission of Clandestine Box?
We want to create a sustainable space where a real sense of family is built. A place where anyone who wants to take care of their physical and mental health feels welcome and part of something bigger.
