Hi, my name is Giacomo Panigucci, and I am the owner of CrossFit 3 Towers together with my partner Luca. CrossFit 3 Towers was established in 2013. Our first location was the Dynamic gym. At that time, CrossFit® was just starting in Italy and was even less known in San Marino. We at CrossFit 3T did a lot of work to introduce people to this sport.
It only took a few years to see a significant boom. So, in 2017, we decided to move to a new location. Our goal was not to lose even a day: we closed the old center on Friday and were already in the new one by Monday. There were still some works to be completed, the locker rooms to finish, but we wanted our guys not to miss even a day of training.
I come from the fitness world. I already had a background as an Endurance athlete, so competition, intensity, and performance have always been central elements for me. These factors attracted me more than aesthetics or bodybuilding, even though this discipline was my passion for 10 years. At the time, I weighed 100 kg and lifted heavy weights; then one day, in a Weightlifting gym, I saw people who weighed much less than me lifting weights I couldn’t get over my head. This made me think, and I realized I needed something more functional rather than aesthetic. From there, I initially got closer to Weightlifting and then to CrossFit® and gradually made it my job.
First and foremost, there’s definitely passion: I love this discipline and consequently have always taught it with devotion and pleasure. Secondly, when the owners of the old box told us that the area where we were training would have to be reduced to a single room, I realized it would be difficult to do CrossFit® in that way, and the discipline’s development would be greatly limited. What struck me was the fact that people cared so much that the CrossFit 3 Towers project continued. For this reason, with the help of passionate collaborators, we decided to start from scratch and create a new structure, starting from an empty warehouse.
I’ve known Jacopo and Andrea from Xenios USA since we opened the box at the Dynamic gym: they were the ones who provided us with the first supply of equipment. For this second box, the choice immediately fell on Xenios USA: the offices and the warehouse are located in San Marino, so communication would have been much faster, in real-time. Moreover, some guys who train in my box worked there and gave me even more confidence in the choice I was going to make. For me, relationships have always been very important. The good relationship with the Xenios USA team was fundamental.
I could say that the first obstacle was one I set for myself. At the beginning, I thought that to be successful, it would be enough to have a nice, modern box, with all the comforts. I quickly realized that I was wrong. There are so many elements that need to be considered for the success of a project like this: forging good relationships with people, trainers, collaborators, consolidating relationships but above all understanding what the client needs.
From the beginning, Xenios USA was helpful in choosing the location: initially, I had selected one that seemed suitable, but when I showed it to Jacopo, he made me realize that the floor area, the training area, would have been too small. He argued that space is never enough. The current box, at the beginning, was set up with 200 meters of training space, and the rest was dedicated to a bar and relaxation area. Over time, I realized that the community is mainly born in the training area: for this reason, gradually, we decided to reduce the “leisure” area to give priority to the training area. Moreover, during the design phase, the Xenios USA team provided me with a 2D floor plan to visualize the placement of the rig inside the box, and thus understand how I would occupy most of the space.
“Finally, we made it!”: this was my first thought. It was significant work, we did things on a large scale and put in a lot of effort, so it was a great satisfaction, the realization of a dream. There were also difficulties, naturally, but gradually we learned to understand what our mistakes were and to improve. It’s been 6 years since we’ve been here.
In addition to the classic services of my box, I have always offered the possibility of having personal training sessions; in recent years, I began to understand that people no longer had needs related only to CrossFit® or functional exercises, but there was growing demand for isotonic workouts that could solve some of their problems. It was at that moment that I decided to focus on a 360° workout for people by including machines such as the Lever Arm and the Lat Machine with the Stratigo® wall station.
Only under the supervision of coaches and only for personal training sessions. This is precisely because of the very nature of our box, as it is a space where people are followed and do not work independently.
Yes, certainly. Especially to those who do personal training and have to work with different types of people, so they can vary a lot in training. This equipment really is able to support you in everything you do, always returning great quality in training.
