Interview with the Owner
Interview with Carmine Matrone, Founder of Rehab – Physiotherapy & Performance
From specialist education to the creation of an innovative project: Dr. Carmine Matrone shares the journey that led him to establish his physiotherapy clinic, built around a modern approach based on therapeutic exercise.
What is your name and what is your role?
I am Dr. Carmine Matrone, a physiotherapist specializing in the treatment of musculoskeletal conditions and therapeutic exercise.
What is your background?
I earned my OMPT Master’s degree at the University of Rome Tor Vergata and I am currently completing my NSCA Strength & Conditioning Coach certification. Throughout my professional career, I have always believed in an evidence-based approach, where movement is the primary tool for recovery. It is this conviction that inspired me to create a project capable of bringing together clinical expertise, training, and rehabilitation within a single space.
Who are the partners with whom you developed this project?
This project was created together with Dr. Corinna Mannucci, who shares my vision of physiotherapy and rehabilitation. From the very beginning, we worked toward a common goal: creating a clinic where every patient feels welcomed, listened to, and supported through a truly personalized treatment plan. Sharing this journey with a professional who embraces the same values has made every decision stronger and more meaningful.
When did you decide to open your gym/box?
In reality, we decided to open a physiotherapy clinic with a dedicated therapeutic exercise area about a year ago. That was the moment we realized that the way we had always envisioned working could finally become a reality. We wanted to create a space that fully reflected our professional philosophy, without compromise, where the patient would truly be at the center of the rehabilitation process.
Why did you decide to open a gym?
Our goal was to provide patients with an environment where they could feel comfortable and undergo rehabilitation in the best possible conditions. To us, the space where treatment takes place is an essential part of the therapy itself—it should inspire trust, professionalism, and motivation. We wanted to move beyond the traditional concept of a physiotherapy clinic and create a place where movement becomes the driving force behind recovery.
How did you choose Xenios as your equipment partner?
Before making our decision, we evaluated several suppliers. However, from our very first meeting, Enrico Golinucci stood out because of his approach. Rather than simply presenting a product catalog, he took the time to understand our needs, always offering multiple solutions while leaving us free to choose the one that best suited our project. This way of working made us see Xenios not just as a supplier, but as a true partner actively involved in bringing our vision to life. Once the equipment arrived and we started using it, we had confirmation that we had made the right choice: the quality, functionality, and attention to detail fully met our expectations.
What were the biggest challenges you faced while bringing your project to life?
As with many projects of this kind, the most demanding phase was the construction process. Between renovation timelines, equipment installation, and delays that often lasted longer than expected, there were certainly challenging moments. Nevertheless, every obstacle was faced with the final goal in mind, and seeing the project gradually come to life made all the patience and effort worthwhile.
How did Xenios support you in overcoming these challenges?
Xenios supported us from the very first stages of the project, helping us identify the equipment that best matched our needs. Their ongoing guidance and expert advice enabled us to make informed decisions and optimize the available space, making the entire development process much smoother and better organized.
What is the mission of your project?
Our mission is to promote physical exercise as a fundamental therapeutic tool. Today, scientific literature recognizes therapeutic exercise as the gold standard for treating many musculoskeletal and sports-related conditions, and this principle forms the foundation of our entire approach. We aim to guide our patients toward active rehabilitation, making them the true protagonists of their recovery while helping them understand that no machine can replace the value of properly performed, purposeful movement. For us, rehabilitation is not simply about eliminating pain—it is about helping people move better, live better, and prevent future injuries or dysfunctions.
Because that’s what Rehab is all about.
