Interview with the Owner
Interview with Barbara D’Agostino, founder of Reload Asd
A path made of passion for sports, determination and a desire to get involved: Barbara D’Agostino tells us how she managed to turn a dream in the drawer into a concrete reality, creating a space dedicated to wellness and personal growth.
What is your name and what is your role?
I am Barbara D’Agostino, founder and owner of Reload Asd gym, a project that fully represents my vision of sports and wellness. Today I take care of the management of the facility and accompany people on a daily basis on their path to physical and personal growth.
What is your background?
My path originated in the world of volleyball, where I had the opportunity to grow both as a player and as an instructor, developing discipline, team spirit and attention to the individual. This passion also led me to pursue a university career in the field, earning my master’s degree at IUSM. Over time, my curiosity and desire to evolve brought me closer and closer to the world of fitness, particularlyfunctional training, which I found extremely dynamic and complete. From there came the idea of turning this passion into something concrete, until I decided to open my own gym.
When and why did you decide to open your own studio?
Opening a gym has always been my dream in the drawer, something I have cultivated over time without ever really abandoning it. At a certain point, however, I felt that it could no longer remain just an idea: the desire to put myself out there, to prove to myself that I could build something of my own and the desire for personal redemption grew stronger and stronger. Then the right opportunity also came: a venue that seemed to be made especially for this project. At that moment I knew it was the signal I had been waiting for. I decided not to put it off any longer and to get on that train, with determination and a lot of energy.
What motivated you to open a gym?
What really motivates me every day is seeing people feel good. The gym, for me, is not just a place to work out, but a space where people can carve out time for themselves, improve themselves and regain balance. I know how difficult it can be to get started: between work commitments, family commitments or simply due to lack of self-confidence, the first step is often the most complicated. But when I succeed in even a small way to change someone’s perspective, to make them discover how important it is to take care of themselves, then I feel I have achieved my goal. Doing it within a space that I have built, that feels like “home,” amplifies that satisfaction even more.
How did you choose Xenios as your technical partner?
The choice of Xenios was almost natural. I discovered the brand by browsing social and the web and was immediately impressed by the quality of the products, the curated design, and the strong brand identity. As I delved deeper, however, I realized that it wasn’t just about aesthetics: there is great expertise and customer care behind it. Throughout the purchase process I was followed with professionalism and helpfulness, receiving targeted advice and concrete support even in managing the quote. I never felt like “a client,” but part of a shared project. This really made a difference.
What were the main obstacles?
Undoubtedly the most complex phase was related to renovation and bureaucracy. Between planning, approvals and often unpredictable timelines, I had to deal with several delays that postponed the opening. It was a challenging period, in which patience, adaptability and a lot of determination were needed in order not to lose sight of the final goal.
In what ways did Xenios support you?
From anequipment standpoint, the path with Xenios was extremely smooth. I didn’t encounter any particular issues, and even in a small unforeseen situation – the lack of some bolts for the wall ball plate – their intervention was immediate. I received a response very quickly and the material arrived without delay. This kind of fast and effective assistance shows great professionalism and attention to the customer, even after the sale.
What is the mission of your project?
My vision for Reload Asd is clear: I want to make it grow and turn it into an increasingly comprehensive landmark.I am already thinking about expanding the space and continually improving both the equipment and the staff to offer an increasingly qualified service. The goal is to create an environment where people can be taken care of all round, not only in training but in everything related to wellness. I want those who enter Reload to find not just a gym, but a place where they feel welcomed, supported and motivated in their journey.
